Today, the Crypto Assets world celebrates an important milestone - Ethereum marks its tenth anniversary. From an initial value of just $0.3 per coin to now breaking the $4000 barrier, Ethereum has climbed to the 28th position in the global asset rankings, becoming the second largest Digital Money after Bitcoin.
Over the past decade, the widespread application of Ethereum in areas such as decentralized finance (DeFi) and non-fungible tokens (NFTs) has earned it the title of "world computer," quietly transforming many aspects of our lives.
Looking back at 2014, Ethereum raised approximately 31,000 Bitcoins through its Initial Coin Offering (ICO), which was worth about 18 million dollars at the time. Over ten years, the price of Bitcoin soared from 600 dollars to 120,000 dollars, an increase of nearly 200 times. Meanwhile, the increase in Ethereum was even more astonishing, reaching an incredible 12,580 times.
In the past decade, Ethereum has undergone a transition from Proof of Work (PoW) to Proof of Stake (PoS), navigated the DAO fork crisis, and witnessed the NFT boom. In the future, the Fusaka and Glamsterdam upgrades will further enhance network efficiency. Layer-1 scaling capacity is increasing tenfold year on year, and Layer-2 interoperability has also made breakthrough progress.
In terms of commercial applications, Ethereum is advancing the improvement of on-chain transaction throughput, increasing institutional adoption rates, and achieving the tokenization of real-world assets (RWA). Some believe that Ethereum has the potential to simplify processes, lower the barriers to node access, and may even become the "Internet value settlement layer". Additionally, Ethereum's exploration of post-quantum encryption technology has led some to believe that its security defense capabilities may surpass those of Bitcoin.
Looking ahead to the next decade, Ethereum may gradually evolve from an idealistic project into an infrastructure. When it becomes "ordinary", it may precisely mark its true maturation. This transformation will further solidify Ethereum's leadership position in the Digital Money revolution.
